All the propaganda during WWI from all countries was used to promote the recruitment for soldiers; the support of citizens to the war; and the courage of soldiers on the battlefield. This fact indicated that all propaganda used during wars have a common purpose of promoting the war. From analyzing multiple propaganda from WWI, it is clear that all of which were reflecting the good side of war and only the good side of war. For example, the song Over There describes the war as if it could be won if people simply grabbed guns and participated. However, the song did not describe the deaths and casualties that would occur during this process and deliberately ignored the possibility of losing the war. This trend of only describing the good parts of the war is occurring because the military department using the propaganda has a purpose of promoting the war and to recruit more people. If the negative aspects of the war is shown in the propaganda, then the people would be scared and would refuse to participate/support the war. To prevent this disaster from happening, the military department would only show things that would make the citizens want to enroll/support the war such as glory and pride, and ignore death and cruelty.
